Low Tyramine, Low Caffeine, Low Preservative Diet
| Beverages |
Foods Allowed: Decaffeinated coffee, club sodas, non-cola sodas (7-up, gingerale). Caffeine sources to be limited to 2 cups or 16 oz per day. Saccharin or Sweet & Low. Non-diet decaffeinated soda. |
Foods to Avoid: Caffeine sources: Coffee, tea, cola-type soda, in excess of 2 cups per day. No chocolate or cocoa. Diet sodas containing Equal. Foods and beverages containing aspartame (Nutra-sweet, Equal). Alcoholic beverages: None. |
| Breads and Cereals |
Foods Allowed: Commercial breads: White, whole wheat, rye, French, Italian, English muffins, melba toast, crackers, rye-krisp, bagels. All hot and dry cereals: cream of wheat, wheatena, oatmeal, corn flakes, puffed wheat, rice, all-bran, etc. |
Foods to Avoid: Hot fresh homemade or bakery yeast breads. Breads and crackers with aged cheese. Fresh yeast coffee cake, doughnuts, sour dough breads. Any containing chocolate, nuts, or raisins |
| Meat, Fish, Poultry |
Foods Allowed: Fresh or frozen: Turkey, chicken, fish, beef, lamb, veal, pork, eggs. Rinse canned tuna before using. |
Foods to Avoid: Aged, canned, cured or processed meats, canned or aged ham, pickled herring, salted dried fish, chicken liver, aged game, no nitrates or nitrites: Hot dogs, fermented sausage, bologna, salami, pepperoni, summer sausage, bacon; peanuts and peanut butter; soy sauce |
| Potato or Substitute |
Foods Allowed: White potato, sweet potato, rice, macaroni, spaghetti, noodles, etc. |
Foods to Avoid:

| Vegetables |
Foods Allowed: Asparagus, green beans, beets, carrots, spinach, pumpkin, tomatoes, squash, corn, zucchini, broccoli, green lettuce, etc. All except those to avoid. |
Foods to Avoid: Broad beans, lima beans or Italian beans, pea pods, snow peas, fava beans, navy beans, etc. Raw onion except for flavoring. Olives, pickles, and sauerkraut. |
| Dairy |
Foods Allowed: Milk Cheese: American, cottage, farmer, ricotta, cream cheese, and velveeta. Yogurt: Limit to 1/2. |
Foods to Avoid: Cultured dairy products such as buttermilk, sour cream, chocolate milk. Aged Cheeses: Blue, boursault, brick brie types, camembert types, cheddar, swiss, gouda, Roquefort, stilton, mozzarella, parmesan, provolone, romano |
| Soups |
Foods Allowed: Cream soups made from foods allowed. Homemade broths. Campbell's Healthy Request. |
Foods to Avoid: Canned soups, soup cubes, boullion cubes, soup bases with MSG.(Read labels.) |
| Fruits |
Foods Allowed: Any juice such as prune, apple, applesauce, cherries, apricots, peach, pear, fruit cocktail. Any fruit except those to avoid. Limit intake to 1/2 cups: Orange, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon, lime. |
Foods to Avoid: Avocados, banana (1/2 allowed per day), figs, raisins, papaya, passion fruit, red plums. Nuts and seeds: Sunflower, sesame, and pumpkin seeds. |
| Desserts |
Foods Allowed: Sherberts, ice cream, cakes and cookies without chocolate or cocoa. Jello. |
Foods to Avoid: Chocolate flavored: Ice cream, pudding, cookies and cakes. Mincemeat pies. |
| Sweets |
Foods Allowed: Sugar, jelly, jam, honey, and hard candy. Sweet & Low or saccharin. |
Foods to Avoid: Chocolate candies, chocolate syrup, carob. Aspartame (i.e., Nutra-Sweet, Equal). |
| Miscellaneous |
Foods Allowed: Salt in moderation, lemon juices, butter, margarine, cooking oils, whipped cream. White vinegar and commercial salad dressings in small amounts. |
