| The director
of the Houston Headache Clinic, Dr. Ninan T. Mathew, MD,DM,
FRCP(C) is a distinguished neurologist, known for his
clinical and research expertise in the field of headache. He
founded the Houston Headache Clinic in 1976, and has been
active in research in headache ever since. He served in
various organization related to headache and is the immediate
Past-President of the International Headache Society. He is a
former President of the American Headache Society and former
Chairman of the Headache Section for the American Academy of
Neurology, which he helped to found. He has also served as
the Chairman of the American Council for Headache Education.
Dr. Mathew has published
more than 170 scientific articles in headache and related
fields (View list of articles). His
special interests are chronic daily headache, drug-induced
(analgesic rebound) headache and cluster headache. Dr. Mathew
has been an invited lecturer in national and international
medical meetings and has delivered lectures in universities
in the United States and abroad. Dr. Mathew has trained a
number of physicians from various countries who have done
fellowships at the Houston Headache Clinic. He participates
in clinical trials of new medications for headache therapy.
Dr. Mathew has directed more than 100 such studies. Despite
his active participation in headache research, he remains
committed to quality care for all headache sufferers and
continues to manage headache patients on a daily basis. |
