General Clinic Information

Initial Visit

The initial visit takes approximately three hours during which a detailed headache and medical history is taken. The previous diagnosis and treatment reviewed, and a neurological and general physical examination made. The above will enable a proper diagnosis as to the type of headache to be treated in the majority of cases. If tests are need (like an MRI scan of the brain, EEG) they will be ordered. Preventative treatment can be planned at the initial visit in the majority of cases.

Refills

Refills for medication can be requested by the pharmacist or the patient during the working hours. No refill requests will be taken after working hours, on weekends, or after noon on Friday.

It is important that we know about all medications that the patient takes. Analgesics and narcotics ordered by other physicians have to be approved by the clinic physicians.

Follow-Up Visits

We encourage you to set up follow-up visits at regular intervals, approximately one month after the first visit and then once in three months, or long, depending on the individual situation. For patients from long distances, special schedules can be arranged.

Phone Calls

We encourage patients to report to us all the side effects of medications as well as other problems associated with the headache condition during the working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phone calls will be returned on the same day whenever possible. After the office hours and on weekends no routine calls will be taken.  The phone number is (713) 528-1916.

Research

Patients willing to voluntarily partake in research programs will be encouraged to do so and an appropriate consent form will have to be signed for the same.
